I do heads-on art-making, hands-on scholarship.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Thesis and Distinction from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2020. I wrote my thesis on cli-fi (climate fiction) and the film Wandering Earth.
I produce projects with exhibitions and archival collections by engaging transnational art ecologies, and have been working with Joseph Grigely on the Hans Ulrich Obrist Publication Archive for the past five years. I also think a lot about fiction’s interplay with reality, the ethics and aesthetics of representation, and how bodies are treated as literal and metaphor.
I am currently researching how air/atmosphere manifests in art and design, and recently taught a course at the Central Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Design on this topic.
My middle name is Be-Yun, as in 王碧雲.
